Winter 2006 Newsletter 12 Feb 2006

Dear Friends and Supports

We pray you had a restful and enjoyable Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Is it really only 10 months until Christmas 2006 and 5 months until the holiday in Romania with the kids?

Last year was an eventful time at Casa-Ioana, several of the children progressed to High School and College and Alina got married, she is now pregnant and the baby is due in June. The youngest children started nursery and Ana and Ionuts taught everyone to appreciate the occasional quiet moment.

We were able to fit the new kitchen, boilers, food cellars, water-well, fire door and alarms and replace the washing machine. All this was thanks to Gods provisions and prompting the right donations when needed.

Funds have been raised through monthly sponsorship, personal donations, donations through the website, summer fetes, wristbands, clothes and accessories sales and lots more. For all this we Thank God and Thank you for your faithfulness in supporting us. We are still £350 a month short on what we need to send, but God has provided every penny needed in 2005 just as he promised.

Philippians 4v19 ‘...with his abundant wealth through Jesus Christ, my God will supply all your needs.’

We are often asked about the individual children , so we thought we would start the new year with a newsletter about the Kids, the workers and other areas of out-reach we are involved with in the community.
We have 11 children at Casa-Ioana, 10 live there and Jason {Cristis’ son who spends every day there whilst his parents are working]. There are 5 boys and 5 girls. Their names are:-

The boys

Doru 16 years and at High school, he is very good on computers and recently
represented his area in national competitions for maths and physics.

Mihai is also 16years and is at a Christian boarding school in Suceava Monday to Friday. It is a very good school and encourages Mihais’ theology studies. He
eventually wants to be a teacher.

Ionuts [big] is 16years and at High School. He is very good at sports and often travels to other areas playing base-ball for his local county team.

Ionuts [small] is 9years and is a very lively character, he keeps his teachers and everyone else on their toes. Ionuts has the loveliest smile and is brilliant on the trampoline.

Mada is the younger brother of Ionuts [small] and he is 4 years old. He has tried nursery, but doesn’t respond well to it. He has recently had his eyes operated on, as he had a squint.

The girls

Oana [big] is 15 years old and this year is an important year for her as she takes her final exams, before High School. Also there will soon be a court case to decide her sisters and her future. Please pray Gods will is done in their lives. Oana enjoys looking after Mada and Jason.

Oana C.D is also 15 years and has an important year at school, Oana is the sister of Ionuts big. She loves helping Alina in the kitchen and meeting her friends

Roxy is 14years, she is a quiet girl and the sister of Ioana [big]. Roxy enjoys
getting dressed up for church and helping Alina. Please pray that Roxys problems at school are recognised and the help she needs is provided.

Crina is 12years and acts likes a mum to Ana, Ionuts and Mada her younger blood siblings. She is a lovely girl, who works well at school and always take care of her appearance.

Ana is 10years and is a child full of character, who ensures Cristis degree in child
psychology will not be wasted. Please pray her teachers will receive the wisdom of Solomon in how to encourage her learning and that she will wear her glasses!!!

K.I.D’s-in-Romania are also supporting Alina S. and her brother George through Theology
college and Romica through university. Alina aims to be a missionary in Moldova working with the orphans, George aims to be a pastor and Romica a teacher of
History in universities.

Some facts about our wonderful partners,

Cristi is the director of Casa-Ioana and has been involved [in different roles] with Casa-Ioana since it began 12 years ago. He is currently studying for a degree in child psychology. This year he has the challenge of looking for additional sponsorship from within Romania. Please pray that God shows him the way.

Alina is Cristis’ wife and has also been working at Casa-Ioana since it began. Alina is an amazing cook and also great with the kids, who all respect and love her, this is evident in the way they respond to her. Cristi and Alina have one son Jason, who is 4years and a good playmate for Mada.

Dana has three children of her own, her husband is a barber and a deacon in the church. Danas husband was made redundant and as they sat at home praying for God to provide them with an income, we were having a trustees meeting and decided we needed extra help, so would ask the lady who had temped for us previously. When Cristi phoned Dana they were still praying. So this was definitely a God appointment.

Lucica Has worked at Casa-Ioana for many years and is very good at breaking the washing machine!! She has a wonderful sense of humour and is well loved by the older girls. She has three daughters. Her eldest daughter [and husband] run a long term foster home, teaching the children about family life.

Milica Has only been with us for a short time she has 2 children, Edy and Lavinia. Her husband has worked at Casa Ioana painting and decorating, in fact he did the preparation work for the new kitchen.

All of the workers are wonderful Christian servants, who teach the kids by example about Gods love for us.

Further outreach into the community,

This year we felt personally called to branch out into the community, helping the widows and elderly as well as the orphans. So we decided to support Pastor Marius in his foundation, providing food parcels for the most vulnerable, clothing for the poor and needy and crisis financial help for the sick.
So far God has guided us towards two elderly ladies, who have no family support. Pastor and his wife take bags of food to them monthly, if we gave them money they would just store it. There has been a couple of incidents where families in crisis have needed short term financial help, i.e travelling costs to get a sick child to hospital.
In the autumn following an appeal we were able to send 43 boxes of winter clothes to Botosani, these were distributed by the church elders to the poorest people, enabling them to make links into the community.
Pastor Marius has a wife and two sons, they are a lovely Christian family and have suffered great pains personally in 2005. First Marius was very ill and needed an operation on his spine, this will take several months to heal and he is unable to work properly, also he has been under attack from those in the community that do not like his work with the poor. Please keep him constantly in your prayers.

I hope this newsletter gives you some ideas for prayer and praise, as all the glory for all our work in Romania is HIS.

‘For we are Gods workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do’
